You decided on Spring poundage yet?jon-ovlov wrote:TASTY!!Yeah that's what they'll look like. I just need to send them some struts and they'll do the rest. 3 week turn around, so it's about a months wait, but it'll be worth it!!

Lovin this John. Awesome stuff mate.
I seperated some hubs from the strut tubes and I will be damned if I can find them now.

Re: Derrick the Volvo! (random small bits)
Cost ain't bad at all considering they are custom made.Chris_C wrote:Whats the cost looking like dude?
Pair of modified struts and dampers - 240
springs (pair) - 40
Top mounts - 60
So I'd say around 400 for that stuff + VAT and shipping. It'll technically cost me less because I can sell the adjustables I have at the mo to put towards the coilies.
Spring poundage I'll probably go for 200/250lbs for the mo, as i have 200lbs at the mo, with the adjustable dampers, and it's a good compromise between stiffness and everyday drivability.
What you lost liam? hubs or struts?

Re: Derrick the Volvo! (random small bits)
Fair play. I'd go stiffer, but Bristol's roads are shit. I feel every bump as it is nowAttack2001 wrote:SweetI've running 400lbs fronts, and Nevs running 500lbs Front and 400lbs Rear

Cheers VND, means a shed load! and Ry, 34 pages, a fair amount of time is needed to read them all, and it's awesome to know you took the time to do that! Thanks bud! Hope you one sorted soon!

Fitted a fan yesterday for the heater, so I'll get a pic up of it as soon as i get home.

Gotta love Gaz for doing some custom work - will they re-sell them on in the future? Or will it all just be on an exchange basis

Depends on demand I guess. Possibly. It'll more than likely be on an exchange basis only though.
Found some pics I got from the B'ham dawn drive awhile back, was fantastic. Rained like a bugger though. I didn't go to the races, where I heard one of the chaps sadly past away. Great shame. On a lighter note, it was a great atmos and really relaxed, brilliant turn out.

I'll also get a pic of the fan I've installed too. Nothing special in the slightest, just another excuse for a pic.

Re: Derrick the Volvo! (B'ham dawn drive, last month)
Awesome pics! Yeah the racing was sad, especially as it happened right in front of us. And I got it on video
Poor chap. Other than that though, one of the best RR meets I've been to.

Yeah, it was the pre-68 banger meet. I won't go into details but it was really nasty and not something I ever want to see again.Evoman wrote:Great pictures

Re: Derrick the Volvo! (B'ham dawn drive, last month)
Blimey Speedy, didn't realise. But yeah, the meet was fantastic.
Evoman, yeah, dirt bowl as far as I know, could be wrong though.
Steve, B'ham in grey, and raining. It's no surprise eh?

Re: Derrick the Volvo!
So it's been awhile, not much has happened really. Just concentrating on uni, and been bloody busy with it all. Still no prop yet
sort of taking the mickey a little bit if I'm honest, but alas, my spirit will not be dampened! Sold the adjustable shocks, the lowering springs and some wheels, and that money will be going towards coilovers, which should be done by the end of the month. On to what has happened.
I got a pair of "scenester" tow straps, because they were purple, and very cheap.

Went to my first Area 52 meet, which was bloody hilarious! Much fun, welding, cutting and fettling was done. The guys were scrapping the Cuore that was built for RR, and so we decided to take the dampers off, and put standard height springs with no dampers on, which had hilarious consequences! Good number of volvos turned up too!

Partook in the Bristol Zombie Walk Resistance, which was epic. Nerf guns gallore. Brilliant.

And went to Avonmouth for another small photoshoot

A photoshop of the beast slammed, just beacause. It wont be any where near this low, as it'll be undrive-able on bristols roads, but looks cool!

He now sits for the time being on slightly cut springs and dampers, until the coilovers arrive. The ride height is slightly lower than what the lowering springs were, so I'll have to keep an eye on the tyres! Had a problem with the standard dampers I got off speedy. They were right for the car, but the large nut that holds them in the strut was the wrong diameter and pitch! Even though it said 340/360 on the box! So I got my old old damper nuts back from brum, and machined a few mm from the inside, and the dampers now fit fine and dandy. I'll get a pic of the car as it stands tomorrow when it's light.
Also got a twin rad set-up and some oil cooler hosing coming tomorrow, so once the uni work is finished, I'll get that done!
