Interesting stuff! I'd like to see pics of that bend bolted to the manifold if you can get them. How does it affect spool time?
There isn't a dedicated R-Sport bottom end (at least not according to my sources). The kit (like the 343 B19 kit) was designed as an add-on (easy bolt-on) to an existing B230A (for example). In other words, it was a high compression turbo setup, using a stock carb or injection block and head. If the GL has low compression pistons, they're presumably standard 240 turbo ones.
How's this for a suggestion...I think you've got a great deal to gain from going to an EMS setup like Megasquirt, especially if it does have the high compression bottom end, which requires more precise tuning to get the most out of it. The 'piggyback' systems like this are rather yesterday's technology.
Of course it depends on your priorities! I may well be inheriting a 240 at some point, and if I decide to keep it, I'll be seeking out the R-Sport turbo carb kit for it

Waaay more ghetto than a piggyback system, but retro-cool too
cheers
