Was pretty scared about the head bolt tensions. Had to get 2 meters of pipe onto the breaker bar to get it up to the angle....
Still pending on the parts from Sweden. As it is now I'm not sure how much more money is going into the Supra so I'm holding off 'till then...
Re: Project T5 360.
Been really slack lately.
(Paying off parts to work, and drowning income into the supra)
Ordering parts from sweden hopefully in 2 weeks but I have to get them sent to relatives in Finland first as they don't ship to australia (bummer)
I'll start on pulling out the engine this weekend as I finally managed to afford an engine crane over the christmas break
Having been 30+ over the past 2 months and it's going to be 42 tomorrow I'm not sure how it's going to go down, hopefully will have the engine out and the 5 banger fully back together to start thinking of mounts and intercooler + piping etc.

Jere.

Re: Project T5 360.
Got the workspace cleaned a bit, and a bit more recent photo of the motor.. Nothing much more done to it since last time.

Re: Project T5 360.
Got the car turned around and engine crane assembled.
No work on the 5cyl as I'm getting a cambelt tension pulley and a water pump next week so it should be completed during the week. With the mounts I've decided to pull the motor out with the mounts attached then pull them off and see what I can do with them on the new motor.

Re: Project T5 360.
Getting there then what sump are you going too use are you having manifolds made (inlet and exhaust) or you got something lined up
Re: Project T5 360.
Stock sump and manifolds at the moment. The turbo will most likely hug the brake master or the chassis.. Intake manifold should be fine for fitment but might be looking at getting a plenum made if I get the stronger box and do go with more power. I haven't looked into if the sump will hit anything but the b200 sump seems a bit bigger so hopefully no dramas.joe1980 wrote:Getting there then what sump are you going too use are you having manifolds made (inlet and exhaust) or you got something lined up

Looking good man, look forward to seeing this finished

Re: Project T5 360.
Yeah pace is going to pick up now. Sold my old whip to my ex workmate so he should be paying that off to me shortly. Got everything pretty much sourced out just need the time and money. It's starting to get a bit cooler now so I can work on her a bit more. Engine coming out before the weekend hopefullySpeedy88 wrote:Looking good man, look forward to seeing this finished

Re: Project T5 360.
Progress!
Got the engine pretty much fully done, I had no clue to the timing cause the illustration that I got (both marks at 12 o'clock), which was the same as in the haynes manual, were wrong. I figured it was to the notches on the top cover where it comes down on the front a bit which is 2 and 10 o clock (I presume). Valves were clearing pistons so the worst that can happen is it'll run like shit or won't run at all, but won't damage the engine.
New water pump, pulleys and belt.. Rather be safe than sorry right

Tomorrow I'll be putting on the sump, just have to find the new o-rings and all that. Then to rip out the old 4 banger.

Re: Project T5 360.
To get the inlet manifold facing the correct way for rwd applications you can use the manifold from the newer generation of ford/Volvo derived turbo t5 engines and make an adaptor flange to mount a throttle body of your choice depending on what management you intend to use.
Re: Project T5 360.
Nice, make sure you turn the engine over at least 4 times (5 to be safe) to make sure the valves don't touch at any point.
Re: Project T5 360.
Yeah, the intake side won't be a problem. Brake booster and chassis will be my first main concerns..Alan M wrote:To get the inlet manifold facing the correct way for rwd applications you can use the manifold from the newer generation of ford/Volvo derived turbo t5 engines and make an adaptor flange to mount a throttle body of your choice depending on what management you intend to use.
Spun it a fair few times 'cause dad, as usual, thought I couldn't do it.. I'll still make sure before I start it when she's in but spun fair easily all the way through so I'm pretty confidentSpeedy88 wrote:Nice, make sure you turn the engine over at least 4 times (5 to be safe) to make sure the valves don't touch at any point.

Re: Project T5 360.
Got some work in on the weekend, was really hot so I only had a few hours in the arvo.

Was a bit of a mission to get that engine out, seeing as we took the bellhousing with it we had to move the prop shaft and gearbox back to get it the prop shaft out of the bellhousing. I think this would've been better to do with a 240 or something that has a front mounted box and more room in the engine bay

Nice to see steady progress on this
