Re: Derrick the Volvo!
Good stuff lads! Keep er lit!
Jon, whats the craic with the custom coilovers? I'm sure it was you that mentioned having Gaz machine the strut tube from a 300 hub and fit 200 SX coilovers?
How much/any length choice/availability do you know?
Liam.

Re: Derrick the Volvo!
Cheers guys. the other Volvo is a 360, and belongs to steveday on here, only posts every now and then, good lad. Tidy car, welded diff and lowered with bucket seats, thats about it, nice and simple!
Liam, haven't done the coilovers yet, I keep going to try, (Jay must be right peeved, keep badgering him for a set and then change my mind) but life gets in the way. Moving house, uni etc etc all adds up. I'd say March will see me getting something sorted out though. With the S13 top mounts, I'll re-drill the strut tower, and then weld strengthening plates onto the top. I'll also have a strut brace too.
No idea really on length, because they will be custom, I'd say it's pretty unlimited. Price was around £300 exchange, sand blasted and powdercoated, with springs. Off the top of my head anyway. Top mounts were £60. Availability is as good as when you send them some struts, and turn around they said about 3 weeks. Not too bad really, considering they are fully custom stuff.

Who's Jay, someone from GAZ?
Cheers for the info mate. Will have to speak to them, I agree that isn't a bad price for custom made and powdercoated etc.

Re: Derrick the Volvo!
Oh sorry! Jay who's on here. I keep going to buy some standard struts off him, and then change my mind. He's probably a little brassed off to be honest.

Re: Derrick the Volvo!
I thought you meant him, but was misled by the 200 SX reference

Re: Derrick the Volvo!
just read the whole thread. sounds good man
liked it! thought it would help with my lowering height decisions but it hasnt lol

Re: Derrick the Volvo!
Cheers bud. Yeah it's not really that low, as I can't afford lower profile tyres. That and the 70's fill the arches more. Once I've got the coilovers and adjustable top mounts, it'll be a lot lower.
Done a fair bit on the car interior wise recently, as money is very short after moving house. First of I ground back all the left over sound deadening and gave it a good coat of primer to cover the steel. makes it a lot neater. Also got some sticky back cable tie holder jobbys, which hold the rear end of the loom in place and stop it moving about.

I also managed to finally get the rear clusters earthing and wiring sorted. Ever since I've had the car he's been flashing rear lights, lights not working etc etc. But no more!!

Got the carbon speaker panels in and fitted (no shots of those fitted yet as it's always too dark when I get home!) and made another switch panel. This is for the fans and relocated window switches. The hydraulic handbrake will be going where the window switches were, so I had to move them. that and one of the switches never worked properly any way. A little bit of re-wiring and all sorted.

To finish off, a cool sun flare shot. Yeaaaah.

Nice jon

Re: Derrick the Volvo!
Cheers guys! Matt, one of the technicians at uni has a Dymo sticker gun. Old one, so it presses the letters into the plastic instead of printing the letters on. It's 1" at the back, approx 2.5" off front. (2.5 coils).
