F7R Standard Exhaust Diameter?

Post by James340 »

I brought a Volvo 340 a couple of weeks ago with the 2.0 F7R conversion. The guy who owned it before me had a straight through 2.5" exhaust made for it, only problem is it is ridiculously loud and don't really like the pipe hanging out the back. I know you got the option of adding a silencer but as I said, I'm not too keen on the tail pipe

I'm going to be making an exhaust system of a smaller diameter but I'm just wondering what the standard size was for the F7R engine as I don't want to go too small and suffocate the engine.

I know this isn't the right kind of forum too be posting this on but being as this is a common conversion, I'm hoping one of you guys will have a solution.

Mine is a straight through 2.5" stainless system with a single rear silencer. Can't you just trim the end of the pipe and swap the back box?

Give neighbours thumbs up
Rev engine to 7K

Well if I'm honest I want the car looking standard as possible.

Has the silencer reduced the noise allot? Welding a smaller tip will still suffocate the engine wouldn't it?

Ha ha yeah but the whole idea is I don't want too be attracting too much attention too myself as its registered as a 1.4 (ok yeah I'm going too be driving an old volvo so I'm technically already drawing attention too myself) but I'm trying to give less reasons for the police to pull me over.

Simple solution - Register the engine swap.
1989 - Volvo 360 GLT
1985 - Volvo 360 GLS
2008 - Volvo S60 SE Lux
