Hello Tracy & Chris.
Turn the caps lock off, it's considered shouting. I've asked to have it moved into the correct section, this is "For sale"

Hi!
Try and get a Volvo dealer to look at it who's been around a long time. Your chances aren't good with one of those "Landrover / Jaguar / Ford oh, and we do V50s as well" kind of dealers.
If it is the clutch and you need an exchange part, try
Dafhobby:

or volvomania on this forum:

Cheers
Tom
PS even small letters only is better than capitals

Re: NEED HELP WITH MY SEMIAUTOMATIC CLUTCH
NOW I'M GOING TO SHOUT SO YOU CAN ALL MOAN AT ME!
I've spoken to Chris - he's a nice guy - he's dyslexic so reading and the written word is difficult enough
without worrying about unfamiliar protocols !! If capitals and a large font is what it takes to be part of
us - then that fine by me.
He is looking for HELP - he has a CVT with what I suspect is a burned out clutch (yes it happened shortly
after an MOT) He is getting conflicting ideas about what is wrong and what could be the cause - initially
he needs a CVT savvy bod to confirm the problem (I'm just too far away). Depending on what the problem
actually is he may then need a clutch kit and advice on fitting. There has also been an issue with the
propshaft which has displaced in use. I have discussed the possibility of a p/s joint bonding failure but
it seems not to be that. I also queried the possibility of "garage revs eng. in park" but he has faith that
that did not happen (he was present at the MOT).
If there is any body in Chris's area who can assist I would be most obliged!

Re: NEED HELP WITH MY SEMIAUTOMATIC CLUTCH
Well dyslexic or not, I'm not going to start reading posts written all in capitals. For me they are more difficult to read and I'm not the one seeking the help. Sorry if it sounds harsh, but I'm not going to do all the running, others have to do their bit too.
Communication is a two-way street. If I want what I write to be read, then I'll write it in a form that is generally understood by the target audience. For example, I wouldn't go on a German language forum and repeatedly submit posts in English. Likewise, I wouldn't go on a forum and repeatedly submit posts written all in capitals. Now if there is an issue with me posting in the generally accepted format, then I could make a bit of effort and type what I want in the format I can deal with and convert/translate it into a format my intended audience could deal with. I wouldn't expect the audience to do all the work.
There are plenty of tools* out there to do the conversion job for you - you type in capitals, convert it, then post in proper mixed case.
Anyway, cutting to the chase (now I have read Mac's translation):
a) I can't help either as I'm too far away.
b) 3-piece clutch kit likely to be £200+. The last couple that went on Ebay sold for £160+ and they come up for sale there very rarely. A friction plate on it's own is probably around £100.
c) Still then leaves the problem of fitting the clutch as the clutch shims are no longer available from Volvo.
d) Early clutch failure is due to the way the clutch is treated. It could be a one-time severe toasting in P, an everyday toasting by having the choke out when in P, or always holding the car from rolling back on inclines using the throttle. It can also be down to lack of periodic re-shimming of the clutch.
*TitleCase - add-on for Firefox - used to convert the above into all caps below.
THERE ARE PLENTY OF TOOLS OUT THERE TO DO THE CONVERSION JOB FOR YOU - YOU TYPE IN CAPITALS, CONVERT IT, THEN POST IN PROPER MIXED CASE.
