Wow! Prices are on the rise....

Post by Attack2001 »

Looks like our beloved machines are getting more credibility on the market :) If they sell for these prices that'll make things interesting :D

Higher prices for modified cars only (reflecting work and parts)? and maybe a knock on effect to stock cars too, as the supply of cars to modify drys up?

But:

A while ago I though that they (standard cars) were getting rare, however quite a few nice ones have come up for sale recently. Maybe it's a blip and we're seeing the last major selling off of 1 or 2 owner cars bought in the late 80's come up as their owners give up driving etc. after keeping them for the last 20-25 years.

I know it's a long way off but in 10 years time all 300's will be owned by people who WANT an old car and WANT a 300 and don't just have them because the've kept the car they happened to buy in 1987 on the road. Maybe that's the time when prices will rise most? Not that I want them to. I don't intend selling mine (but my latest addition will probably have to go :( ). Isn't part of the appeal their alleged unpopularness (which was at odds with actual number of sales)

Recent article in (Un)Popular Classics (1979 343 cvt) also boosting prices or at least raising their profile.

I've noticed that there have been more unregistered guests on at once recently, nowhere near as many as the highest ever number of people at 100 odd in 2008 (how did that happen???).

Maybe some are registed members having a quick look without loging on.

I suppose when there are a few cars on ebay there must be a larger number of folk typing 360,300,340 etc into google and finding us.

The old way search engines worked is how we had 100, the true highest number was ~35 around the same time though.

We drive 300's, we'll never be popular ;)

^^ oh snap^^ lol but i don't think these will ever be a cult here in nz. parts are too hard to come by and peoplejgjd their little jappas. that being said i am hopefully buying a skyline again soon. But i still keep my little 360 running. have owned 4 parts cars for her now. we all know its a rarity thing. we don't like being common, am i correct?

They are certainly far from common now.

There have been a few cars up with a high price tag but have they sold at that price?

300's are still very cheap when compared to lots of other cars of the time. Trouble with them is they still have the grandads car image and despite all the drifting and other racing the grandad image will not be fully shaken.

Well, the prices cars are being advertised is on the rise thats for sure.... car prices at the low end of the market are higher anyway. Comparing against similarly aged VW's etc I think 300's are still very cheap considering the condition you can still get them in if you are patient.

And offset by rounds of QE and inflation.

Another one.

QE and inflation indeed. Costs £115 ish to fill the transit diesel tank now. The rise in value of physical goods must higher that interest on a bank account now? Invest in old volvos now to secure your wealth against the comming economic collapse
