Haven't posted in a while so here it goes… SInce last time i haven't done loads to the car just a few things and I've put the bucket seats in etc.

I just bolted them to the original floor holes using the cobra side mounts and the seat was in the same position as the original one. Just waiting on the harnesses to turn up and it should be looking good inside.
Haven't done anything else much just a few pics of the car…

Ohh and i also picked up a cheap clio 172 engine that i was going to attempt to fit but have now changed my mind as they're too much hassle and I'm going to pick up a f7p in a week or so and then I'm going to be starting that which should be eventful! Heres the f4 engine which is also for sale if anyone wants it!

Rough running b172k engine… Problems fixed throughout
Had some engine problems on the 172k engine recently, started with some rough running, poor idling and cutting out. When i took the carb apart i found a return jet pipe fallen off in the float chamber, a cracked gasket on the bottom of the carb and a few other little problems. After talking to Mac from the forum i got a new gasket, new rotor arm and dizzy cap to go with it as i was sure this was at least part of the problem.
So after fitting these parts the engine was smoother but down quite considerably on power at top end and it felt like it was being starved of fuel at high rpm so i took it apart again to see what i could find. I reset the idling screw and the CO screw to get the correct mixture at low end. I also then found i had a sticking throttle cable and choke cable which was over riding the idle screw and messing with the mixture at high end rpm by the choke sticking.
After loosening these off and greasing them i put everything back together again! Then i correctly reset both the idle screw and the CO screw. Once i done this i drove it again and it felt a lot better! At high end i felt i had the power back again and it was a lot smoother. As well as this the idle was no longer erratic and it was also smoother.
These problems started by the car jolting and cutting out when driving along normally under normal load. I first thought this was fuelling problems and i possibly had a blockage however it turned out to be an air leak from the cracked gasket and a weak mixture/spark from the rotor arm.
Hope this helps anyone having problems with the B172k engine
Inside looks well done, not a ridiculous level of stripped but a purposeful car that can be used.
I keep thinking about a flocked dash, but given most of my events are night based it's more just for rally pimpness. Looking at that, I might have too soon!
Thanks, and no this is still my daily so its not majorly stripped I've always wanted a flocked dash, think they really do make the inside of the car look a thousand times better. Real life it looks a lot better. And yeah being able to feel the fluffy dash it a bonus

I thought I seen your car over there a few months back. Yeah, now too many police there. I don't want them trying to find something wrong with my Volvo haha.
Thought id post this about some engine problems and rough running i had previously which could help some people out in the future.
The first problem was when turning (right in particular) the car would bog out and start to not rev and nearly cut out. This would also happen when braking, and the harder you braked the worse it was, to the extent it would cut out sometimes if braking hard! After some digging through the carb and looking to see what i could find i came up with a few things it could possibly be. The float was my main suspicion as Mac told me they are known to go pours and absorb fuel. I took the float off and weighed it comparing it to the original spec sheet on the forum for the 340. The floats supposed to weigh 6 grams give or take 1 gram. Mine weighed 17 grams. Bought a new float from Southern Carburettors in Crawley for about £20 and this solved all these issues. Thought this could be helpful for anyone having similar issues.
A few weeks later started having a few running issues and found an air leak at the base of the carb where one of the bolts wouldn't tighten into the manifold properly. By this time i was loosing motivation for it and ended up taking it to a mates volvo specialist garage who knows about 340's and they regularly break them. I would highly recommend them to anyone in the south. The garage is in Plumstead and is called J.C garage. They swapped over a whole new carb, inlet and exhaust manifold as the carb had serious running problems further inside. The car is now running perfect and couldn't of asked for a better job!
