That looks terrible! Doesn't match the rest of the project, which is great! Always thought a 5 cylinder was much longer than a redblok, but the lenght seems to be the same (bad ideas are growing now.. n/a 2.5 20v )

I was going through the pics and noticed on this picture there are two rods connecting the subframe to the body, have you made them yourself?

Yeah the sump was a last minute rush job to get the car mobile as parents moved away.
They have been there since I purchased the car so I'm not sure what the go is with that, I just assumed that's how the car was manufactured. The only thing we've modified is the engine mounts and the bar at the front that the sway bar bolts onto.
I think yeah it's about the same length if you take into account the fan on the red block.

It's a lot more quiet than the last pump and it's reduced the smoke by a lot but there's still some present. There's a little filter on the inlet of the pump which I'll be removing tomorrow as I think that's restricting the flow. She drives pretty good now though and comes on boost nice and early. Then I'll just need to work out why the dash doesn't have any back lights and then I can even drive it at night

Not much has happened as of recent. I've installed an oil cooler, for which one of the hoses has started leaking quite badly so driving tonight was out of the question.
Dash lights have been fixed via a bridge to another ignition source to the dash, and also I got a temp sensor in. Although it's between the thermostat and radiator it's better than nothing for now.

I'm going to keep the spending down until I know what's going to happen to it. If I move over east it will be good bye to the shell at least if I can't find another 360 over there then it'll probably be time for a 240 and a new clutch plate.

Anyway that's it for now I guess.

Yeah sorry it's been a bit hectic with the move to Brisbane and what not.
I got a new daily and the guy that did mod plates on it said he'd be able to mod plate the engine in the Volvo so there's hope yet.
Something broke in the clutch on the last day of the defect notice so plans are an eccentric slave cylinder and a hydraulic master set up as the cable can't handle the tension. Also we've been pondering about the oil burning and have come to the conclusion that more than likely it's because of the oil build up in the head on the intake side as there were no paths for the oil to run out, so the oil is getting through the stem seals.

So the build will definitely resume at a later date when the funds allow for all the work to be carried out.

What broke in the clutch? I am also worried about putting a HD clutch in for the B230FT, it has to be heavier than the 940 because the plate is smaller. I'm using a new aftermarket cable, but the plastic connector at the pedal is a weak spot. There is a metal version of same used in the 440. I'm happy enough if that is the main issue, but if a cable can't cope I need to go hydraulic too.

Not too sure yet, I had a look through the hole on the bottom, thrust bearing, fork, etc are in place but it makes like a screeching noise when operating and doesn't engage gears. When it went bad something metallic fell out so if I had to assume it's something to do with the spigot bearing or the release bearing couldn't take the pressure and seized up.
Yeah mine's quite a workout to press in and the cable stretched over time as I had to adjust it a couple of times throughout the time I got to drive it which wasn't a long period so I'm not sure but if your aftermarket cable is stronger than the standard maybe it can handle it.

OK so it has not just disconnected, sounds like the bearing has collapsed. I've managed to source a new Volvo one for mine, although the original is OK apart from a missing metal cover on a shoulder, NLA but I think Dai can get aftermarket ones. 940 ones will fit but are a bit loose on the fork and slightly shorter.
I doubt the aftermarket cable will be better than OE but mine was a bit rusted so I didn't think it would be strong.

Well it's been another 6 months or so with no activity. I've been trying to save some dollars up so I can get onto the suspension parts, a smaller turbo and getting a diff made up.
The current daily was eating up most of my free time and money but I think we'll be getting back into the old girl very shortly. As far as work goes it's basically all got to be done again. Hydraulic clutch set up, relocate ECU into cabin and try to make the wiring look a bit neater, get another sump made up, drill out proper drains in the head, try to find someone to make us a lsd rear end, smaller turbo, throw some suspension work in the mix as well, and the list would go on for ages.

Anyway yeah it is what it is but we'll soldier on as long as we can get it done legally and on the road again!
