newby 360 owner

Post by smithy »

Hi everyone i am a 360 owner from melbourne. My 360 is an 85 model with a b23e engine, ported b200e cylinder head. A GT cam (h), extactors. lightened flywheel (4 KG). K&N air filter. all this makes the car quite zippy. I have managed to find an economy guage for the dash but are still looking for the ambient temp guage.
i have a few other things that i would like to try on the car in the future. lowering, brake upgrade, turbo (i can only dream). c.d. player. every thing takes time and money. great website . :D see you all later.

360 parts.

Post by smithy »

Hi Matty. All the parts on my car and the car itself came from Berry Motor Group in Melbourne. That is where I work. We repair, sell and wreck Volvo's and BMW's. They have heaps of 360 parts. If you want you can find us on the net and give me a ring during work hours.

Yes an aircon kit would cost you about $500 aus. I wouldn't know how much it would cost to get it to the U.K.

Right....that's nearly £200. Not bad I guess, but not too cheap either - the main problem is dealing in that amount of money from the other side of the world!

I guess the major headache in terms of postage cost is the weight of the pump.

Still, worth bearing in mind!

cheers

The compressor is similar to the 1985 onwards 240\740 compressor. i don't know if they are available over there. The other heavy part is the housing that holds the evaporator. i think the English heater boxes are completly different to the Aussie one's.

Hi again!

Compressor.....the pump, right? I guess a 740 one would work just fine...same engine after all...

There were at least two designs of heater box, and LHD and RHD were different, of course, but I think the AC parts are almost certainly the same. Sadly VADIS doesn't cover 360 AC. Major bummer!

Hey smithy, You havent got any VX profile camshafts down there, I'm after 1... or 2 if u got em.

I also saw u want to lower it a bit, King Springs have lowering springs for 360's for front only, drops it 30mm, i'm gonna see what else they have and what they can do tomorrow, as the part number was off a backlog of custom jobs or something, but the 30mm lower front springs were $250 for the pair +freight (is $22 to ship from QLD to Coffs Harbour,NSW) Anyway i'll post more as i find it, G'night for now

Are you sure its a VX3? VX's were stock, VX3s were aftermarket, but only slightly different (well...3 degrees to be precise!).

M and T cams aren't worth bothering with (better than the B200K 'L' cam, but worse than the B200E 'A' cam), but the rest are usable.

CAMS

IT HAS VX3 STAMPED IN THE REAR. I DON'T KNOW IF SOMEONE HAS CHANGED IT. NOT LIKELY IN AUSTRALIA, NOT MANY PEOPLE ARE INTO MODIFYING VOLVO'S

There's a little confusion over this (so I could well be wrong!), but the conventional wisdom was that the VX was Volvo's version, and the VX3 the aftermarket version.

Either way, that's a pretty cool cam!
