340 1.4 engine change ?

Hi guys is there any lump I can drop straight into the 340 1.4 without much hassle or turbo options cheers

Renault 5 turbo.

With 1.7 parts Renault F4R, F7P, F7R

Some people even turbo the original engine but you would need to lower the compression.

Sorry to bring back a old thread but I have a volvo 340 1.7 swapped to a F7R, I know a 1.4 340 can take a 360 power steering rack my question is,

Would I be able to buy a 1.4 340 convert it to power steering then drop my F7R into it? im not sure if the steering rack will get in the way of eanything

Or would it be easier to get another 1.7 and try and fit power steering to it? If thats even possible because I already have the mounts and everything in my donor car.

I would be surprised if the rack did foul on anything.

Cheers I shall try it once I get a new 340, hopefully once I come back from my holiday and have some spare cash.

What I remember and you will find if you search the forum is that to fit the PAS rack to a 1.7 you need to raise the engine a little.

If that needs to be done you are going to need also ajust the gearbox position to keep perfect prop alignment
