A few years back I owned a 84 360 GLS which got bought as an interim car to do me for a month until an insurance claim got sorted. It ended up doing 10,000 miles in 6 months before failing it's MoT on a huge amount of welding.
Anyway, my wife is after a cheap sturdy runabout for a year or so, and rather liked the way that the old Volvo could overtake other cars while costing less than their stereos....

The first is that the engine was very sluggish while warming up. Once warm it pulled well. Now I suspect this is probably due to the car having been sitting outside for a month or so, with very little petrol in it. However I wondered if anyone else has seen something similar and whether the fuel injected models were more prone to this?
The second is that I drove it down a roughish lane and it seemed quite bouncy... I can't actually remember how spongy the suspension was on my old 360 (other than it was a bit...), as it was 5 years ago and I've spent the last 4 years in a Saab 9000 (which drove much better over the same bit of road). Anyone know a good way of checking the shock absorbers other than bouncing the suspension up and down?
Cheers
John
