What kind of powerfilter should i use?
What kind of powerfilter should i use?
The last season I've used a Simota Powerfilter on my B200K 360 GL.
This is a quite cheap filter, and i wondered what filters you guys would use to get the best sound of this engine.. ?
Pipercross/ K&N / Green, etc.
Thanks

Powerfilters are not necesary in Volvos unless you want different sounds..
Filter area in stock filter is large enough in many models, actually many power filters have smaller area than for example 740 Turbo stock panel filter has. Modding the original box is usually the best way to go. Get rid of the hot air intake etc and put some larger pipe which will direct cold air in to the box etc...
I bought a 740 Turbo filterbox for GLT but I couldn't fit it in anywhere so I have to use AEM cone filter.. It still needs a heatshield though. It would have been easier to direct cold air in with the panel filter because the box would have already been there.
Now I need to fabrcate it by my self.
GL has stock panel filterbox with the bottom sawed off on the other end.

You can put a t-fitting in one of the vacuum hoses coming from the intake manifold (pick one without any check valves, for example vacuum hose for Renix will do fine) or you can put a new hose for the meter from the manifold if there are any outputs free. Then you need a fitting for hose in place of the plug in manifold.

I always use Jetex air filters maily because I cant be bothered replacing plastic air boxes every time I get a backfire!
They sound great too.
On the 360 manifold there is a spare vacume point if you want you could replace the blank with a vachume fitting.

I've read on turbobricks that its a good thing to get rid of the airbox preheating and replace it with a straight tube.
As Fuse is saying, the filter is large enough, especially on the 360.
I'm planning to replace the preheating too, and make a straight tube for better flow, that goes directly to a place where it can suck up cold air.
Unless you want another sound, the standard air filter is fine.
