1983 Volvo 365 GLS - buy it or not?

There is a 365 GLS (i thinck it is an 83 model) not to far from my house that passes almost every time stoped, only goes for a trip one ore two times a week.

I've spoke with the owner's son and monday i'll talk with his father to see how much he wants for the car and how are the car.

The only thing that I know is that is a 365GLS, mk2 exterior, interior like an mk3, it have some original decalls in the doors and the best part... only 70000kms

360's are very rare round here... As rare as this one is the only that I have ever seen here in Portugal and I see a lot of Volvo's

Can you give me some information about the model?

What engine is it (B19A)?

How are the performances compared to the 340 1.7?

And the handling/brakes?

Tips that can help me seeing if the car is a good buy will be welcome to

GLS-model: it should have electric windows..i think

If it is injectionmodel then engine will be B19E, if its carburettormodel then it is B19A and it WILL be very thirsty with fuel (My former Volvo 244 -1981 had that B19A engine and it spend fuel about 13-20l/100km

)

Brakes are almost same as your 340,360s got a little bit bigger rear brakedrums. Handling would be as same as in your 340

Performance..umm..i think it will be a bit quicker than 340 with B172

We used to have a Mk2 GLS which I'm fairly certain had manual windows.

Yeah, I've not seen a GLS with electric windows before - but I *think* it was an option. Oh well, you could be really unlucky and not even have electric windows on a GLT, eh Aymat?

Ive seen one 360 GLS here in finland which had electric windows and it was mk.2 <--1986

as far as I know the 360 GLS was from 1983 to 1985 the 'base version' of the 360 models.

after 85 they dropped the GLS, and it simply became '360'

above the 360 base, where the 360 GL, and the GLT/GLE

on GLT/GLE versions electric windows were a popular optional, depends a bit on the country how much % of the cars actually have it.

on a GL, electric windows are far less common. a 360 base version with electric windows?? thats a white raven...

umm..you are right.
I have 360 GLT -87 and it doesnt have also electric windows, neither it doesnt have central power locking or any kinds of "luxury" things. Its also "base" model

Maybe Finland (is also) one of those countries where didnt delivered any of those "luxury" models. I havent seen here any 300-series with aircon,powermirrors...etc. Ive seen only one mk2 GLS (or was it GLE?!? dont remember) with power windows

Welll that's not a problem if I buy it... My 340 have central locking, electrical windows, electrical mirrors... Just need to change them from the 340 to 360

Not sure on that MPG figure...Solomanda gets 30+mpg all the time, and we've seen how he drivers

For that money i can bought a 740 Turbo Intercooler in better condition...

That's a pitty

Looking for a 340 GL 3dr mk2 now.

Someone know if the mk3 5dr doors fit mk2 3dr?

5 door and 3 door version doors are not same length at all, impossible to swap those...

740 Turbo, why not

Most of my driving is sensible 70-80 motorway cruising and some country road driving. Usually get about 30-34mpg. Worst I had is 27ish heavily loaded up, bike rack and driving at 80-90 on french motorways. Never used it for typical town driving so not sure what it gets in traffic, (I guess quite low mpg).
