Did anybody see ??
Did anybody see ??
Mornin' all,
Did anyone else see 'The Doomsday Code' on C4 last night - ??
Any more proof needed that:-
1. Extremism and fundamentalism is very dangerous wherever it comes from,
2. America is the most dangerous country on earth,
3. Bush is the most dangerous man on earth.
I found the absolute certainty of these 'end timers' truly disturbing - but I also sensed a common thread in much of what I saw - Money (and the making of a very great deal of it) and oil (and the wanting to control everyone else's).
There is also what seems to be an almost genetic predisposition in some people to quite happily destroy anyone of a different colour or faith, and anyone who looks, acts, or thinks even slightly differently to them !!
It would seem that the whole 'end time' philosophy could be based on the writings of a 5thC. middle eastern refugee, hiding in a Greek island cave, who just happened to have scored some 'muscaria' soup!
Feel free to completely disagree with me - but just don't bomb me or invade my country to make your point.
Nothing to do with Volvo, but the implications of what I saw scares the hell out of me!!
Mac.

It is scary, most powerful country in world is doing crusades, they free people from dictators and give them democracy and taking resources, at 13th century there was other religion to spread and taking resources (taxes etc) did happen by then, nothing changes just guns grow bigger.
I wonder how much less global warming there would be if ppl could let others to be alone and respect other ways of life too, seem to me that is one big problem in every scale and just every government and every person this seem to be case.
I tend to say that not accepting others (fearing unknown also) is in genes as cave people had to stay clear from strangers because of different bacteria and such which caused deceases, this was case still at middle ages so I think that few thousand years has put some kind of routine to human genes and it is still affecting some of us.
Maybe that is reason why new S80 looks like Audi with BMW front, they are afraid that if it is too different people will not accepted it? We get back to Volvos easily again

Indeed, the US is dangerous. It has consistently been the most aggressive state in the world since WW2. The religious fundamentalism found there is often as extreme as their current enemies, i.e. Islamic states.mac wrote:Mornin' all,

Ronald Reagan sincerely believed in armageddon - while holding the power to cause it. As for Bush, he is on record as stating that he invaded Iraq because god told him to... So we can expect little more sanity from him.
Incidentally, The previous pope John-Paul II held serious concerns that GW Bush was the antichrist. The new Pope appears to be quite deliberately drawing a line between Catholisism and Islam with some recent carefully placed incendary remarks. Perhaps he too has a vested interest in hastening the coming of "the rapture"?
Something which I don't think was mentioned in that film, is that the belief that we are at the end of times has been held for millenia at least. Everyone thinks that their present is obviously the most important period in human history, and the time of the eschaton. I guess the difference for this period of time is that there appears to be so many people determined to make it happen. You're right, Mac - it is truly terrifying.
Missed the muscaria connection... All this lunacy caused by a greek space cadet? Sounds about right...
I can't claim to know a great deal about the Christian Bible, but it does teach that no-one will know when 'the end' is going to happen.
So if you believe the Bible and someone tells you the world is going to end on Thursday week, they must be lying
GW Bush is certainly a very scary man, but I do wonder where the power really lies. I can’t help but feel that he is not much more than a puppet and that unseen, truly unaccountable people are making the decisions.
p.s. Sorry, didn't see the programme, but it does annoy me when people start making 'the end of the world is nigh' claims.

Hi ronnie,
'muscaria' connection. - Considerable archaeological evidence that the Book of Revelations was written in the 400s by a Palestinian refugee (not by St. John) hiding in a Greek island cave (from the Romans). The disturbing visions in Revelations are thought to have been induced by a soup of 'magic mushrooms' that grow all over the island !!
Headline - 'end of world caused by greek space cadet' - you're dead right mate.

I could not agree more with all of the above. For anyone interested in finding out more reasons to hate Bush, i'd recommend watching the two most recent Michael Moore films, as they're real eye-openers.
On the subject of Revelations being written by some guy on mushrooms, i can easily believe that, as psylocin, the active chemical in them, is well known to produce pseudo-religious experiences. more info here

What surprised me (from my readings on Turbobricks of things from an American perspective) was just how much support there was for Bush. I honestly expected him to get thrashed in the last election, but it didn't happen.
To me, the most dangerous thing he's ever said was the quote something along the lines of "We don't care if the UN say we should wait before invading Iraq....we're America, we can do what we like". Yeah....there's the true attitude coming out...
cheers
James

Yes - it's a real novelty to be able to speak openly on an internet forum about what an a**hole Bush is without a bunch of hysterical yanks geting their collective knickers in a twist.foggyjames wrote:What surprised me (from my readings on Turbobricks of things from an American perspective) was just how much support there was for Bush.
In a democracy the people get the leader they deserve...
