When I bought my black one the tyres on that were terrible. I drove it for a while in wet autumn weather with them on and I had to be so careful because the wheels would be spinning all over the place. With those tyres was the only time I've spun a car!! (in a housing estate)

In the end I kept the same mk3 GLT alloys but used Uniroyal Rallye 550 185/60/14 rubber. In terms of grip I think they were some of the best tyres I've ever had. They were progressive, so didnt just let go, they gave plenty of feedback meaning you could really push the car to the limits but could still catch it if things went bad (or you provoked it!). Shame the sidewalls werent reinforced as they enabled me to take untarmac'd roads incredibly fast on rallies, but afterwards the sidewalls were bulged and had chunks ripped out of them on the front!!

The 2 decent tyres that were left after I sold the car to Steve went on the rear of my girlfriends MX5. Even with 130bhp and little weight over the rear diff they did a great job. And you could still give it some welly and bring the LSD into play for a little bit of sideways action

After the BX broke again I took Fioner out of hiding yesterday for a drive across the New Forest. The tyres on her are rubbish, but she's still great in the wet (if you ignored the shagged front suspension!)

Well our 340 had original Michelins all round until about three years ago. So Dunlops, Goodyears, Michelins... I guess dealers offered a choice of brands.

I have no idea how grippy they were, we got a new set just before I started to learn to drive, even though they had tread left, to be on the safe side.

The spare tyre is still original and has never been used.

Shame he doesn't lower himself to sit in a 360

Take it was a 12car if midweek-should have posted on Volv's in motorsport to let us know what's what.

Bilbo got a mention in msport news or whateva it's called these days after the Ropper in Sept-flash git :x
Yup, forgot about that thread! I was the only 300 out, Carl stayed at home, and Nick was in a MR2. It was a scatter this week, havn't got a 12-car till mid Nov, but it was ridiculously wet, I had to turn my spots off a lot of the time, it was lighting up the rain like it does fog, and I just had a white sheet in front of me. Did manage to average a most respectable speed down the lanes to get to the finish however!

Me and Nick got a mention in Motorsport news last week, had a bit about the Himalayan organising we'd been doing.

Oh, and Steve.... don't be mean to MJ, thats my job ;)

The 360 unfortunately wasn't ready for another event. The suspension/brakes are still knackered after the Old Farts 12 car a few months ago. And the BX decided it was gonna play silly buggers in Bristol, meaning I couldn't compete in that either :(

As for MN, everyone seems to have had a mention (just a wee one for me):

Check out our actual result though - we had an appalling night, so shows how bad all the other SE crews did!! To think we almost gave up!

I got another mention in this week's MN too :D 3rd overall on the Pheasant Plucker Rally up in Chelmsford last weekend. There's a simple reason I don't generally compete in 300's - the only southern Road Rally driver I've seen with one is Carl... Small FWD hatches are the most popular round here, with Mk2 escorts taking over in Wales (where they seem to have much more to spend on their rally cars!)
