In the end I kept the same mk3 GLT alloys but used Uniroyal Rallye 550 185/60/14 rubber. In terms of grip I think they were some of the best tyres I've ever had. They were progressive, so didnt just let go, they gave plenty of feedback meaning you could really push the car to the limits but could still catch it if things went bad (or you provoked it!). Shame the sidewalls werent reinforced as they enabled me to take untarmac'd roads incredibly fast on rallies, but afterwards the sidewalls were bulged and had chunks ripped out of them on the front!!
The 2 decent tyres that were left after I sold the car to Steve went on the rear of my girlfriends MX5. Even with 130bhp and little weight over the rear diff they did a great job. And you could still give it some welly and bring the LSD into play for a little bit of sideways action
After the BX broke again I took Fioner out of hiding yesterday for a drive across the New Forest. The tyres on her are rubbish, but she's still great in the wet (if you ignored the shagged front suspension!)
