The prospect of a heaterless winter doesn't fill me with joy, any ideas?
No Heater :(
No Heater :(
I was out in the car tonight and the heater was on full blast. I stopped at a junction and the car cut out, the engine just died. It restarted straight away, but the heater won't work now. It won't operate on any setting. I had a quick look at the fuses and all seems ok, but I don't now which fuse relates to the heater as I have no handbook.

OK, this is strange.
AMR's post prompted me to get a torch and have a proper poke around the electrics under the bonnet. I popped the bonnet, started the car and the heater came on straight away.
They don't cut out if they get to hot and come on again when they cool down, do they?
The alternator appears to be fine, the belt is fine and the electrics work.

Could be that your heater resistor pack is on its way out, they tend to go around now due to age and the cold weather coming back. Certainly the right symptoms (not working on ALL fan speeds)
In the black heater box at the back of the engine bay there is a resistor pack, that corrodes. Can be replaced with a spare from a scrapped car etc.

I'm not convinced thats a resister pack, although it could be. The thermal cuts all 3 settings, even though I seem to remember they are on different fuses. I'll have a look later (little tipsy at the mo) as I've various resister packs around, and should have new ones in a little while (Foggy, where the f*ck is your new one for me to play with
and the injection trip compter board)
