Well I wouldnt've even considered the Anteres style under normal circumstances atall. I'd much prefer one of the late 15" style rims. But they were only £75, the wheels look virtually new with a very slight scuff on one wheel! 2 of the tyres have excellent treads, the other two are ok. But for barely the price of the two decent tyres - I now have quite a nice set of wheels, with much better tyres!
The late style GLT alloys are a terrible design, alot of wheel trim manufacturers make alloy look trims, why did volvo make alloys to look like wheel trims?!
Certainly unlikely to see another 360 with the same wheels though!
Absolutely - You've certainly got a bargain. Once you've factored in disposal, fitting, balancing, etc, my tyres each cost more or less what you've paid for four modern & damn near unique rims with at least two decent tyres!
Thats true.. the other factors like balancing all mount up really! The car actually seems to ride smoother now, I think Carl said he only had chance to balance 2 of the originals, so that might've been why!
Incidentally, my Dad also looked at the sunroof today, as he used to fit sunroofs professionally and has with Golde sunroofs before. Obviously, it doesn't actually work but reckons it can be fixed - needing the cables and a couple of small plastic parts I think. Would be nice to get it working! Its wedged with blocks of wood now, so atleast it sits flush and has reduced wind noise dramatically.
Those alloys look great, as does the car in general mate. "I've been there done that!" with regards to the sunroof! Decided one night to take it out and replace all the parts with ones from a working donor! Managed to do it just before it was too dark, reduced wind noise a great deal, but I didn't quite get time to adjust the left hand side properly, so it still sits a little high at the front, but it works!
Cheers Pete! Yeah it looks pretty good in the picture, rather flattering and seems to hide a couple of dents! But overall it looks pretty smart now! Somehow seems to look shiny even when its dirty!
I need to find a car with a sunroof in a scrappy for the parts, I know of one in Warwickshire somewhere with a silver 360, but can't actually remember where the place was or if the 360 even had a sunroof! Not too bothered at the moment, but it would be nice in the summer.
I saw a green 360 on ebay about a month ago, with a working sunroof with no rust on the panel! I might've had the car if it didn't have a huge dent in the rear passenger door...
I'd go for 17" myself, but i drive my car alot, and government owned australian roads... are less than perfect, last time i checked it was bad news to mix potholes with 30mm thick tyres. What would it take to wrap some thicker rubber round the rims, say 45mm, so that they dont wear abnormally?
...Otherwise i'll be going with the 16" version of the CSA dominators.
Foggy... get some 24" wheels, it'd make for one wild 360!
Sunroofs aren't that uncommon....unbroken ones are. From what I could see (as your Dad can no doubt confirm/deny) the 'chain link' shaped runners (the bits that move) seem to wear down over time, meaning they fail to 'bite' as well as they should on the tracks. This seems to be the reason for the general loss of 'traction' - especially the 'sticking' when the panel is almost closed (having been slid back).
I have a rust-free panel (albeit in the wrong colour and not on the car yet!), but my mechanism needs a little gentle persuasion to work correctly. Having said all of this, I spent a fair bit of time looking at the sunroof this summer, and I can say that 90% of the failures are due to a history of under-maintainance. They require a good deal of lubrication, so if yours still works - go at it with a grease gun!
Yeah, unless you want to go away from stock size ratio (speedo and 'clearance' issues), so need to run a 30 or 35 profile tyre on 17s for a 360, dependant on tyre width. I'm personally pretty extremely with my 15s - they seem 'about right' for a daily drive.
24s?! This is a 360, not a Cadilac Escalade. Daft thing is...those are 24s....and they don't look that bit on that HUGE truck!
