1.7 340 gl glasgow final reduction must go very soon

Post by glasgowjim »

final reduction 340 1.7 gl for sale - glasgow - £60

1 owner from new G reg 1889 no mot no tax good condition for year.
When the owner got to 72 years of age and his car failed mot on 2 counts handbrake and NSF wheel bearing he gave up driving. However he bought 2 new rear drums to cure the handbrake problem and a new NSF wheel bearing both of which come with the car. He maintained the car replacing the osf wing and sill. The battery has since died on me and the engine does leak a little oil ( looks like the cylinder head gasket is going) but no emulsion on the oil cap: the second gear is a bit stiff to change but otherwise gearing OK . I bought this to do up for my daughter but no sooner had I bought it than she got herself a 480 instead (women!!) Comes with V5 document which is now registered in my name.

Wife going mad about it cluttering up driveway so it has to go , ideal for spares or as a project car needing minimal work and the drums and wheel bearings go with it.

Need to get rid of it very soon will scrap if no one interested shame really just pay the wife , bring along a battery drop it in the car and drive it away ( wheel bearing nsf does grind but should be ok to get home if in the central belt of scotland.)

Also, just to note, if the car runs fine the oil leak is likely to be something else other than the head gasket, and much cheaper. Its a common problem on 1.7s. :)

Sounds like a nice car. Pics would be nice.

That is a shame, it's just a shame we've all got at least one 300 already, sometimes it's the wrong target audience when selling a 300.
