Post by MB1 » 07 Apr 2007 05:51 am

Hey guys, im in aus and have a AC problem on my volvo 360 glt

I get in the car this morning and the AC not working. When I press the AC button nothing happens, i.e I cannot hear the compressor coupling to the engine and the revs drop, i hear nothing, nothing happens.

I have checked the fuses and none look like theyre blown

Anyone got any ideas?

Thanks

Michael

Hello.

I'd the same problem on mine a few months ago.

If you had a multimeter you can check when push the AC button if the car have 12v on the AC compressor cable. In my car only 8v (not enought to engage AC) where at this point and I fix it with a relay and new cable from the battery to engage the compressor clutch.

I assume that in my case it's a earth problem but check it in your car, maybe it's the same problem.

Hope that helps and sorry for my english.

Engage the AC, ignition on, engine off. Then jumper the pressure switch on the dryer. If the compressor engages, then you're low on gas.

sounds like a plan

where is this pressure switch? on wot dryer? I have jumpered a switch on top of what I think is the canister where the gas is. if ur looking from the front of the car it is on the bottom right. When I did this there was a clicking from the AC compressor, it did not start up tho

ok so I have checked google images and the switch that I jumpered is on top of the dryer

The compressor didnt start up tho, it just clicked. I dont remember if the compressor used to start up without the engine running. Oh my god I am a moron, the engine drives the compressor... OK then I have pretty much had the conversation with myself and resolved everything. Looks like I will need to get the AC regassed. Thanks 4 ur help

Sounds like it :D

If they've got a new drier, would be worth paying the extra to get one fitted.
