sometimes its not wrong to be nosey

Post by redline »

theres been a green volvo 850 glt in the residents car park next to my place for the last five weeks .

obviously I had spotted it but didnt think anymore of it.

At first I thought a friend of someone in the flats may have left it there while on holiday but then I began to think five weeks is a long time.

checked it out yesterday and guess what , drivers door lock damage , ignition barrel pulled and radio missing , it had been stolen and dumped here.

There was an advert for a trailer in the window for a trailer and had a phone number so I rang the owner (after having phoned the old bill )

A lovely older lady answered the phone and yes it was hers and had been stolen from there home ,

she went on to say she had a son with downs syndrome who could hardly walk ( I had clocked a blue badge in the drivers door pocket ) and her husband had been in hospital since this happened after the doctors finding a cloud on his lung and diagnosing cancer .

I felt really bad that I hadent checked the car out sooner,

it would have saved the family all the anguish and the expense of having to buy another car ( so she could visit her husband 40 miles away in hospital and transport her son ) while they waited for the insurance to pay out.

moral of this story, if you see a car parked up for a while near where you live and dont recognize it , have a quick look and especially check out the ignition barrel area . dont touch the car and if you are at all suspicious phone the police, you could save someone a lot of pain and anguish

What ashame :( Couldn't have really happened to a more needy person in need of transport!

Like you say, for once curiosity didn't kill the cat at least you did do something about it in the end rather than never doing anything about it

i wonder whether the person who stole it (guessing for a joy ride) knew the car was the lttle old ladies? if that theif did then that thief will have know about the son etc.

if that theif did know then that person deserves to be shot. bring back the death sentence i say.

or i wonder whether the thief stole it and then noticed the blue badge?

either way there is not much worse than that. i really feel sorry for the old lady, good for you to have a look at the car
