diff backplate + bolts

Post by Bobalob »

Looking for a 1987 340 diff backplate and bolts.

I intend to weld the diff, the haynes procedure is to remove the gearbox/diff as one but through some forum knowledge apparently i can just jack the front up and take the diff backplate off.

Unfortunitly my backplate as shown below looks like it wont survive a removal so i would like the replacement parts. Any help much appreciated

also the box+diff (ignore trolly jack its still fully connected)

Mac can supply new bolts and a new gasket :)

As for the backplate, you'll have to find a good condition second hand one

I've seen worse back plates than that. I would think a new gasket and bolts would do.

NO

It will still need the oil to lubricate the gears

Ok just to explain,

You have welded the diff gears up but you still the the crown wheel and pinion that need to be lubricated as the are still turning on each other to give you drive. No movment with these then no drive.

I bet your glad you mentioned that now and saved your box.
