Last weekend the bolts on the driveshaft/diff sheared off leaving half of the bolts still stuck in the diff half shafts.
What I wanted to know is if I could just remove the half shafts without taking the diff off? So I can drill the old bolts out.
Thanks.

Removing Diff Half Shafts?
which bolt sheared? one of the ones connecting the Prop to the diff, or one of the ones connecting the driveshafts to the diff?
I sheared a bolt on each side of my diff - one on each driveshaft!! woops!
they are now more like studs than bolts... still in there at the mo. lesson learnt - check airline hammer is set to loosen, not tighten
you can remove the driveshafts and leave the diff in place, if thats what you mean; when i did my lowering blocks, i took both shafts off and didnt loosen the diff off at all. when you remove the bolts, it just drops off - theres no spline or anything, just the bolts holding it on.
If you've got a bolt stuck in the driveshaft, you might be able to undo the other end, and get enough movement (with all other bolts undone) to twist it round on itself - unscrewing the bolt with the shaft, as it were. IF its stuck in the shaft AND the diff then you need to ask someone else cos i cant think of a way to get round that
its pretty fiddly gettting the hub end of each driveshaft off, but if you rotate the hub you can get to each bolt. the rubber sheath doesnt help either - its pretty tough to pull out of the way AND hold a socket on at the same time
hope this answers your question.
probably not but i enjoyed writing it anyway
