I was on mismatched tyres on steelies when we went to Haynes though mate. 300's are really forgiving with bad technique, do the same in an Avenger or something and you'd be in the hedge, but that doesn't mean you should always use the bad technique!

Now admittedly I don't have much track time...but...you cheeky bugger Chris, I certainly know better than to do numptyish things like braking mid-corner
I was struggling in the low speed corners with not being able to turn the wheel fast enough (being a fan of PAS, I'm not used to this 4-turns lock-to-lock business), and the crazy body roll (courtesy of the front suspension being so screwed) causing 'interesting' behaviour. Funnily enough, the car seems to sort itself out at higher speeds.
Anyway, with smack-talk of that sort of calibre, I'll have to call for a showdown on a track. I demand a re-evaluation with a car that isn't broken

good luck... you guys have to have a showdown at an autosolo or something - sorry foggy but my pennies are currently on chris... he does seem to be able to peddle 300's pretty damn well!
Just a point, we all "know" not to do numptyish things like brake mid-corner, however it's not knowing... it's doing... I "know" how to do quite a few driving techniques, doesn't mean I remember to use them at an appropriate time - thats what practice is for

The de dion unit is not a bad set up to be fair. Its basic but quite good. Give it the correct spring poundage and suitable dampers for the car and it will work well. The biggest problem for higher power 300's is spring wind up on take off.foggyjames wrote:I think it depends on your goals. For all the work of going to a multi link rear end i do not feel the results would be worth it. IRS would have to be the way to go to get any real improvment.

When I say multi-link...I mean either double wishbone or one wishbone and two link-rods. Multi-link covers a multitude of sins...and is even more of a blanket term than IRS! In this case I mean a setup like a 760/960 has.
