It attaches to this base in the car, marked 5252
peaked in my books some more. you have a Ducellier 525295 distributor assembly. (your engine is most probably a B14.2E)

i'll try to find some more numbers for ya.

I don't know why the pictures won't work for you... they look fine for me. I'm glad that number checks out as a Ducellier distributor... now I just need to find the right parts to put back in and hopefully get the car running again.

Thanks for your help and advice. :D

Thanks for the part number. :D

The pictures should just show up within the post on this board - no log-in needed.

oh, I had deleted my cookies so I had to log in again, that's when I noticed the login button is grayed out.
(works anyhow, so its not a big deal)

the pictures do not seem to work, for other reasons I guess :-(

hope you can find the cap (and the rotor, wich might be found with the D807 number as well?)

The pics have been working in the thread for me since posted, which makes it seem odd that they aren't showing up for you antiekeradio. Good work on finding part numbers, you are the man in the know!

I have seen the light! (err, the pictures, that is  )

guess it was a temporary connection problem at my ISP.

that capacitor looks _really_ old!! change it! (0,27 µF)

could you do anything with the valeo code?
(the valeo caps are good quality with copper-coloured contacts)

hi wouter...

im continuing my ignition parts research.... posted a new topic in the general technical forum....

So a distributor marked 5252 has a ducellier 525295 system and uses a
0,27 µF condensor / capacitor.

A distributor marked 1203 is a 1203 ducellier and uses a 0,22 µF condensor / capacitor?

points for renault 1.1, 1.3 and 1.4 using a ducellier distributor are all the same?

dya have a list of the different ignition systems used in different years and different engine codes?

Points for Ducellier distributors can be different. The (actual) one in the photos above is used in Renaults - it was the one in the parts diagram I saw at my local Renault dealer. The points in my Ducellier are different - rather than being U-shaped, only the contact end is bent up. The correct one has a Lucas part no. DSB241C.

I can't find a Valeo part anywhere, but I believe I've got the right distributor cap, Lucas DDB209. Rotor is DRB204C. I have a condenser, Lucas DCB221C - I don't know if this is 0,27 µF for certain but it looks exactly the same as the old one... just a lot shinier :)

Shimon... if it helps you, the old capacitor from my car is almost certainly the original Ducellier part. I can make out a D at the top, a marking of 0,27, MADE IN FRANCE, and the number 607453.

Cheers,

Ed

if the component size is identical, fat chance the capacity is spot-on as well! (0,22 are same diameter but a bit shorter)

BTW pretty unbelievable that the condensor is still the OEM part!! proper maintenance would be to renew it at the same service interval as the breaker points......

so except of the points, you have got the full ignition service kit complete now?? :-)

In the history file (back to 1995 when the car had 23,000 miles) there is no record of the condenser being replaced. The cap has been changed a couple of times as have the contacts. I suppose since it was at Volvo they might have used a genuine replacement, but it does look very old. The HT leads can't have been replaced at any point.

Yep, got everything now except those leads - still looking though. Nearly there 8)

did renault also use the same ducellier system? 525295? but...are the points different even if the same ducellier system was used?

re the leads... i recognize the name bougiecord class B... all my 340s have those. however, how different are HT leads? does each type of ignition system require different HT lead types?

I 'misplaced' my coil to distributor lead for my 2.1 240. I bought a spare from a car spares shop... just simply bought one with two male ends and overall the right length cable... are there significant differences between different lead types?

If you are changing the leads it often good to use silcone coated new ones... last longer.

I see you were also on the dafownerclub website... Im trying to compile a list of parts shared with other cars to aid parts availability...

Once ive got more time after exams im gonna chat with Toon from the daf club... pick his brains on all the parts needed for volvo 66 and 340s!!

keep us posted with any developments
