Mick - I ride in high speed rapid response vehicles. We retrieve critically ill kids all over the SW and go as far afield as the midlands and S Wales. Last week the Police pulled a team doing 120mph down the M5 with full music and lights. Unfortunately for them, our paediatric intensive care consultant was riding shotgun with the registrar, and he didn't hold back on his critisisms. Neither did the driver who was spitting blue murder. By all accounts it all got a bit heated until the cops backed down and crawled off with their tail between their legs.

It's ridiculous you ended up with points whilst doing an emergency transport. You should have not paid the fine and let them take you to court. You would have won - and got costs out of it! :D

As for Gatso terrorists - I heard a story of a man who developed valuable skills in reversing his landrover into camera masts up and down the country. A 240 would probably suffice - Stuntman?

oh yeah, good idea, just cover your numberplates up stuntman,
No one will ever suss its you coz your car blends in so well ( I mean its not as if the SUBTLE grafixs will be a giveaway )lol

I see where your coming from, but anyone could impersonate a rapid response vehicle with flashing lights and get away with speeding so the police have to be carefull

Ah, but then anyone could impersonate the Police with flashing blue lights, or VOSA with flashing orange lights and black battenburg vinyls.

So, does this mean every Police car 'advertising' (CB speak for driving with blues and siren on) should get pulled by another Police car also 'advertising' just to make sure they're genuine? Who is going to pull the car doing the pulling? And who is going to pull them??? Arrrgh!! Will it ever end - Nurse the pills please...........

A fake rapid response vehicle would be an extremely expensive way to drive at 120mph. I would advice a trip to your local racing cicuit, the Isle Of Man or a German autoban - all these options would be cheaper than a specced up Renault Espace complete with light bar, decals and sirens + two elite healthcare professionals in the back and 200lbs of state of the art medical equipment...

I wasn't defending them, just putting forward an option. I didn't know if there were decals etc, as a simple rotating light of the roof would not identify it as genuine...

my fault , I wasn't very clear in my case it was a white fiesta with a roof bar carrying a doctor sign and a green roof light , it had emergency doctor signs on boot ,bonnet and doors,

mind you I did have fun driving through the Notting Hill carnival crowds one year escorted by four , Yes four , police motor bikes.

had a bit less fun the day I rammed it up the arse of a fiat punto trying to avoid a prat in a yank ,who forgot to use his indicator and stopped to turn right .( no brake lights either )

it was on a two lane stretch of road , when I realized what the guy in the yank was doing I went for the inside lane only to see the punto illegally parked (owner was collecting a curry ) I almost made it onto the pavement but not quite enough room ( the doctor was very impressed with my driving and after I helped him pull his fingernails back out of the dashboard he thanked me lol)

funniest part was the owner of the punto was screaming at me asking me if I had been drinking etc ( oh yes love I always have a couple before I take the doctor out )and then her boyfriend came over and told her to get in the car and shut up ,

He then explained he had seen it all from the otherside of the road ( he was at the cashpoint )and he didnt want any fuss as he was
a (married ) chief constable in the met and the punto owner was his secretary sm79 if you get what I mean..

the recovery driver couldnt understand why a doctor and driver were giggling like school girls all the way back to the depot.

It was only when I filled in the crash report I realized it happened at

11.59 p.m. on Friday the 13th

That's rediculous. I wouldn't pull over, and I'm not kidding. If they asked, I'd say I appriciated the escort...

cheers
