I think the problem was with the dodgy connections to it (especially the throttle-stop one), rather than the solenoid itself. Either way, cleaning and replacing everything fixed it :) If this is the case, it basically will NOT idle at all, not "it's a bit shaky".

I'd tempted to say your problems sound more like a vacuum leak Gemma.

Ahh, interesting. If that is the case what does one do about it? Never had that before. :?
