The other angine swap option is a 2ltr lump out of a 400 series. Direct bolt in and does not look any different on the outside.

There is a fair bit to be gained with the basic a#exhaust and induction job. I can also get a tweaked cam for the 1.7

i want a 2.0liter swap :P

i guess your talking 2.0liter 8v?

115hp stock with very nice torque and with tweaking my mates car got 140hp with simple mods exhaust intake and chip

^it was in a laguna so front wheel drive tat but imagin in a volvo 300 sm71

its mpi engine and he found that the stock exhaust and air box was a very big restrictoin

I'd use a Clio 16v engine they're cheap enough and rev like buggery. The 8v 2 litre laguna motor isn't very good.

You can pick up a 16v with a decent engine but shit bodywork for £2-300 now if you know where to look. A decent engine on its own can be had for £70-£120.
