Mick changed the petrol pump and put christmas lights on it lol ,
It was quite rapid when I had it ,
I would change the fuel filter and redex the carb to see if it helps .
iirc the choke cable was a bit wierd on it (it wouldent go back in so you had to open the bonnet and pull it back at the carb end) so check thats ok
mind you I never had to use the choke to start it anyway

A quick aside, I've just fitted a cd player and I think it looks pretty good (and keeps some volvo style) even better the mp3 cd player was free!
Remaining on topic, anyone got any good ideas on the best cars to get 38/38 or 40/40 twin choke carbs from? as I haven't managed to get the book chris recommended yet

will that just bolt straight on (obviously sort jetting etc), was also contemplating a single dcoe but I suppose the manifold would have to be custom, what would performance of a 38/38 dgas be like when compared to a 38 or 40 dcoe?
cheers

sieara 2.0 with a progressive carb which is better, 38/38 is cooler+even better and i think golfs had em too.
38/38 is damn good easy to tune good fuel econ and emissions, dcoes are pigs to tune, and second hand ones can be really dodgy.

so a 38/38 dgas would make a good replacement from a tuning point of view, also they are synchronous carbs so should be more responsive? as I am using the car for rallying I imagine that this would be better than progressive as I will always be on the boundary of the second choke?

yea its more fun too

the power comes on quicker, iam not sure how one could be fitted yet , iam looking into it,but if we are lucky its just a bolt on,jet/rolling road job.

Anyone got a clue whether a dgas 38/38 will just bolt on, and if so approximately what jet sizes I should be looking for when I start tuning?
Cheers

You're gonna be lucky for direct bolt on mate

any better suggestions for a less restrictive carb that will be easier to fit, or should I just buy a dgas and knock up an adaptor plate for a standard manifold?

Anything I'd imagine will be either an extra set ofholes in the mani or carb or an adapter plate I'd imagine mate, but won't know until you get scrappying!
