Under the rear of the torque tube us a pair of rubber bungs. Remove these and you should be able to see the coupling from shaft to box inside. You may need turn the shaft to get the bolts lined up with the holes. Remove the rear bolt completely then remove the 4bolts to the transmission and the gear linkage.

No need to take the front of the gearbox off, just remove the torque tube now. Is it stuck? did you completely remove the drive shaft clamp bolt inside the tube behind the rubber bungs? (they are not on the gearbox). If not its possible you have shifted the drive shaft, but it can just be hammered or pushed back with a bearing puller.

You are nearly there, looks like you just need to turn the drive shaft to see the bolts. It probably needs to be in neutral or the clutch pushed in, or just turn the engine on the crank pulley bolt.

What axle? I thought you have already removed the De-dion tube Axle. Can't think of what else you might call an axle.

I suppose normal storage would entail removing the CV joints drive shafts from the diff and wheel hubs. You would want to keep the diff+gearbox together to keep the oil in.
