Evening all im mike from bury st edmunds suffolk. i come from vauxhalls
my current 1.8 vectra:
Im currently looking to buy a 360 GLE 2.0 for some rear wheel drive fun. just a few questions.
What is the engine code for the 2.0 ?
What should i look for on a 360 body/mechanic wise or is it just the normal like every other car ?
And do they suffer from anything?
check jacking points for rust as these are a common issue on the 300 series, also in the boot - take off the plastic covers that cover up the lights and check under there for holes. not too sure on the engine code as you can get carbed and injected ones, but im sure someone else will come along with an answer.
not much more than has been said but check the struts. I've had to weld new cups in and if id known about it when I looked at it, i wouldnt have bought it. Get you fingers into the cup and have a good feel for rust.
B19 and B200 engines
- found in any 360 (GLS,GLT,GLE)
things that have gone on mine:
-Sunroof leaks
-Rust on sills and front and rear valances
-knackered boot struts
-Oil filler cap and rocker gasket leaks
-heated seats don't work
Tend to be common problems, things like boot struts and filler cap leaks are either not much of a problem or pretty simple to fix/ replace but might help you knock a few quid off the asking price
Good luck getting one, they are fun!
'88 360 +T LSD - sold
'87 760 TDI (D24TIC) - sold
'04 V40 D sport (F9Q, decat, Remapped, launch control)
'89 740 SE (b230ft, 12psi, V-cam, headwork, 'remapped', banded steels) '86 340 DL 1.4
Vauxhalls are the only popular manufacturer I actually like. Nice vectra. That 360 looks really solid too, just have a check underneath (but it's likely it will be completely solid)
If that cambelt change in 1999 at 17,000 miles is the last time it was changed then it's well overdue age-wise, first job on the list! If that mileage is correct and with a bit of luck the cars been garaged most of the years then rust shouldn't be too bad. Check rear spring mounts (all four) front strut tops, coil spring cups and if you can get underneath, the box section just in front of the spare wheel part of the underside, either end next to the wheel arches. And as has been said, all four jacking points.
