1.7 engine hesitation when accelerating

hi i have 2 volvo 340 1.7 and both of them when u stamp your foot down they judder and act like there going to stall then they go i have put carb cleaner into them still no change do i need to get the carbs cleaned/re jetted?

Sounds like it's flooding with fuel. Does it also barf some black smoke out the exhaust?

not that i no of have not seen any it feel like when u slip of the clutch when pulling off kangarooing abit then its fine but it does stink of fuel so mayb your correct

more likely a weak spark, possibly caused by oil in the disty.

plan of action is change the sparks and clean the dizzy out then i take it will update if it fixes it thanks

cleaned the dizzy have not changed the plugs yet waiting for them to arrive would a dirty dizzy and shit plugs make it smell it sometimes stinks of fuel when i put my foot down?

possibly, the theory is that the fuel drowns the spark, so you will get a load of unburnt fuel. Usually the symptom is stalling when trying to take off and apply power, or just generally applying power.

check the float in the carb, it's probably leaking and filling itself with fuel
