1.4 engine oil

so many times i am told by motor factors to use this oil, then another says use that oil........

what do you guys use for your 1.4's??? wanting to use the best i can get for my little beast

The DAF Club,Nederland recommends 20w-40 for the 1.4
....in other words good old Halfords Classic Motor Oil. :D

Whilst 20W40 is fine for warm temps (i.e. above -5) if you are UK based (or most of upper Europe) I'd run 15W40, as shown in the proper Volvo Green Book

All pretty much of a muchness, the key point seems to be how long they last before they stop becoming oil. If doing recommended periods between oil changes (again, the correct interval periods are in the green books, for the hard of reading, it is 6 months, or 6,000miles, whichever is sooner) use what you are most comfortable with. Something with a brand name rather than Tesco/Sainsburys/Lidl EconoOil is generally ok.
