Okay, have my new gauges in, but need to find the sensor for the outside temp gauge on the scrapper I got them from. Where do I need to be looking?
Also a couple of questions about internal lights:
Should the ring around the ignition barrell be lit like the one around the fag lighter?
Should the switch that controls sidelights+mainlights be backlit?
Is there a sensor in the tailgate for the bootlight or is it just lit by the sidelight-mainlight control?
This is all for an E reg 340DL
Gauge sensors and other questions
Sensor for Amb Temp, any 400 with an Info Center, details in the Gauges for Sale thread in either the demand or offer forums.
EDIT: Just looked, it's in Demand:EDIT
The ignition barrell doesn't light up, but there should be a light th esize of the interior light just to the right of it, in the cowling, that works off of the door switches (nick a relay off a GLT for timed lights)
The numbers around the light switch should light, as should the little bulb sign, quite an easy bulb to change, and sounds like you know know how to get the dash cluster out, so get behind the switch that way.
And the bootlight is switched off the little mettal effort on the boot strut with the wire (this is the reason if you get new boot struts you need to change the end so it is still a metal ball socket, else the boot light never earths and always stays on)

When you pop the bonnet, look between the rad and hte bumper, and there is a gap about 6" wide, every one I've pulled you can always see the wire there, it's 2core, and probably taped up anyway, but it'll be the only bit of wire there. If you don't know what the sender looks like, it's a 3" long effort, with clips at the sensor end to hold it in, give it a wiggle and it'll come freePop the bonnet and you can see the wire in front of the rad, i.e, bumpermost side. Make sure you cut the wire and take the plug

Just follow the wire....which I'm guessing you'll need unless it's prewired.
