Just been browsing the dark side of Volvo forums (something yank, power, and fwd related) and they have what I reckon is a great section, 3 weekly competitions for best creative photo. Basically, someone proposes a subject title (previous have been shadow and action, as well as a few others).
Anyone else keen to try and propose something similar on here? I don't think anyones gonna be putting up prizes, but it'd be done for "feel good I won" factor.
Poll runs for 7 days, if it is successful, I shall propose a topic, or someone else may come up with one. Feedback is good here, I'm freestyling!

I have a feeling it may be down a tad too, some of those are amazing. Erm, as to whether we let you entre the deo... erm, well, I'm really wanting to say no, but you are one of the longest membership'd here! I've also been vaguely impressed with some of your pictures (;)), so I'm tempted to say maybe, as the photo thing is currently my baby! If there is outcry however, I do run a democracy!

I like from idea, also would it be possible that photo should be shooted after competition starts so using old pics would not be possible, that would create perhaps more fresh shots and something like that

You see, I was almost tempted to say that Jani, as I have that shot of Fake in the Lake district, and Steve has his at the meccano structure in Scotland.

Sounds a great idea! Not sure on three weeks though. It seems a long time to wait till judjing, but on the other hand it gives time to compose a quality entry, and might get borring too often. Perhaps every fortnight?
We also need to decide how much photoshop is allowed. Minimum (cropping)/ whole image changes (overall brighness/contrast/hue etc)/ overlaying layers to get say, the sky at a different brigness to the foreground/ borders
My suggestion is to allow cropping, brigness/contrast/hue changes etc, allow touch up to remove a mark/dust etc, but not to change the image (eg no shaving door handles) and to allow overlaying layers.
Personally I'd say the only border allowed should be a 1px black solid line, as otherwise we'll be judging the image partly on someones artistic borders rater than the actuall photo.
Will the photos have to be new, or can we dig some out of the archives?
