360 video

Post by Ali »

Finally got a bit of video footage before the insurance runs out on monday :( Quality is pretty bloody awful but shows the car alright, I think the turbo definately gets rid of the big step up from 2nd to 3rd with a standard 300

Probably around 170ish, its 1mph faster over an 80mph speed test than a 200sx with air filter, full exhaust and T28

Using the timing on the vid I make the 0-60 time at about 7secs.

Should be quicker than that my Clio was hitting 60 in the mid 6s with fwd and about 25bhp less. Can't imagine it weighing a great deal less either.

All down to gearing though, Ali will have to use 3rd to get 60mph up. I'd imagine the Clio would do it in 2nd

A standard williams needs to go into 3rd to hit 60, and still does it in less than 7 seconds. Mine had a raised rev limit so would just hit it in 2nd

Also had a passenger to film that, not sure if 0-60s are usually done with a passenger or not, looking at other cars in comparrison:

Civic Type R - 197bhp 1204kg (163bhp/ton), will hit 60 in 2nd and thats 6.4 to 60

Focus RS - 212bhp 1278kg (166bhp/ton), not sure about ratios but 6.3 to 60

Now i'm going to be pretty much same power/weight as those cars but need 3rd so I wouldn't say its a mile from where it should be considering these cars were designed to have that power

edit: according to www.carfolio.com

Clio Williams - 145bhp 1010kg (144bhp/ton) 0-60 in 7.8

However I know these spec sites don't always get it right but sounds more like it

Nah carfolio is miles off. A standard williams will do 60 in sub 7 seconds, a standard 16v will do it in low 7s.

My old clio was hitting mid 6s 0-60 when it was stripped out, but with standard engine bar a magnex exhaust, de-cat and panel filter in the airbox.

This is more like my clio was

Power at Flywheel (BHP) : 145
Weight without Driver (KG) : 880
Power to Weight Ratio (BHP Per Ton) : 167.42
0 - 60 (Secs) : 6.58
0 - 100 (Secs) : 17.64
60 - 100 (Secs) : 11.06
Quarter Mile (Secs) : 15.04
Terminal Speed (MPH) : 92.31
Drag Strip Quarter Mile (Secs) : 14.84
Drag Strip Terminal Speed (MPH) : 93.95

0 to 60 is also kinda useless "performaace meter." Quarter mile tells much more about the real power the engine is putting on the road than 0-60 time..

1/4 mile trap speed tells you more than the ET I think - it pretty much removes tractional difficulties.

Nice work Ali :) A note to Steve who was mocking me on the gearing thing...the injection cars do have the higher ratio diff, which helps....but yeah, I'm well and truly beaten :)

cheers

I wasn't mocking for a change... and even though injection cars have the higher ratio diff, it doesnt disguise the 'hole' in 3rd gear with the stock engine
