Just been given a free 360GLT

Post by swight » 31 Jul 2007 01:41 am

Have just taken delivery of a free 360GLT, it had been parked in a drive for 3 years. Put a fresh battery on her and she started up, then drove her home! Looks like she is going to need new sills, but generally not bad condition. Should I bother getting the sills welded then go for an MOT? If so how much do you think for a pair of sills?

I know its going to cost you but it might be worth putting through an mot before you spend out on welding just in cae it needs shed loads of other work you dont know about .

not only that the mot guy can mark exactly where it needs welding so you dont do too much or too little for the test .

good luck ,

its probably worth throwing a couple of hundred quid at as you got it for free

You can pick up pattern sills from Hadrien Panels, they are pretty cheap, £20 a side rings a bell. Good luck with the GLT, I was in this position 2 years ago with a free GLT, but mine wasn't just the sills rotten :( I hope you have better luck!

Complete new sills will be better than patching. It depends on whether you just want to get it through the MOT, or whether you're fixing it up so it lasts. New sills will obviously cost more, primarily in labour.

cheers
