Cooling fan
This probably shoudnt be in the engine section but oh well.
I hav a 1.7 340glt that i use at my parents private land and the cooling fan has stoped working. I cheacked the motor and its working fine so it must be the sensor. is there any way of testing it. I dont really want to try buying a new 1 yet cause the car cost me nothing and i only use it 4 three weeks in the year but i need 2 sort it out cause its usually on the rev limiter when im drivin it lol and it overheats far 2 quickly.
soz that was a biot long
cheers

Just stick a manual switch in for the fan and save yourself spending any money!

The sensors are not that expensive. try flushing the water system out if its getting very hot. I've found they normaly only come on when the engine is left ticking over.

The drift guys found that the engines cook at low road speeds (i.e. on the limiter, full load, in 1st & 2nd gears), especially when the car is at a funny angle
You may well find that just cleaning the terminals works. Try pulling the two wires off the sensor, and touching them together. The fan should run.
I measured mine up a while ago..12-13" rings a bell.
cheers

You can use a complete rad with sensor off a 1.7 to do it.dalahare wrote:Same topic of sorts, but a thread hijack none the less, i'm thinking of pulling the clutch fan off my 360 and fitting a electric fan run off a manual switch, any idea on what size? i can get anything from 9" to 16" at reasonable prices.
With the tepurature where you are I'd not be so keen on the electric fan tbh
