340 1.4 engine/ engine swap questionS

Post by Steelballz »

well lads and ladies.
I'll be collecting a 340 1.4 later on in the week...what I want to know is:
does the engine have a small bit of "poke" at all?
does it take kindly to a bit of abuse, ie a bit of sideays?
what engine will fit straight in, mounts-wise.....?

Ever though of getting into the 'all seeing, all knowing' game.

Rain is quite enough to get a 1.4 sideways, with 155 width tyres. Forget it in the dry though, and remember not to endanger users of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth's highways.

- 65/70 BHP. Get some bad tires, inflate them to 3 BAR, and they drift like hell in the rain. Dry is still a problem though.

- Those B14's are like briks. Can handle a lot. But don't overrev it. And if it blows: A new engine will set you back 50 quid and about 5 hours. Really simple!

- Mountwise, the C1J of a Renault 5 GTT fits in a 1.4...But thats about the hardest rebuild. Just get a F7p from a clio. There are loads around, and has been done loads of times...You need some parts of a 340 1.7

@everyone else: I wont endanger the queens highways, and rain will be plentiful because...I'm in IRELAND....rain, and no queen's roads in sight.

I'd never considered a career change up until now.
I'll mull it over and get back to you shortly-I'm currently deep in thought.

Have you considered a career in motivational speaking-you're a natural and it's all the rage apparently :?
