Right i am currently undergoing the f7r conversion, and after reading through some of your builds i notice you have fitted spigot bearings.
This is my first engine conversion i have done, so i have been learning from trial and error and forum help (very useful cheers guys)
To cut to the chase i didnt fit a spigot bearing

is it needed?
Cheers
Ross

It taps into the end of the crankshaft flywheel end, not engine out but bellhousing clutch off.

I take it, it will be self explanatory when the clutch is off and fly wheel is on show?

Yep so long as you have the right bearing.

Careful when you're knocking it in. I used a 1 1/4" socket IIRC, fitted the outer bearing race quite well.

Thats the one. Should go in nice and easy,
Heres a tip if you ever need to get one out again, Pack behind it with grease, and use something that fits snug (i used a clutch alignment tool) inside the bearing and with a light tap it will force the bearing out.

Hi,
The bearing came today, its about the size of my thumb nail. Judging by the pics i have seen of the flywheel it looks a bit small. the size i used was 6x17x6mm
What spec bearing have people used?
Cheers

Certainly sounds to small, let me check the number.
Asscrackers! looks like i have the wrong number in my notes

Really sorry.
if you measure the size of the end of the bellhousing shaft. and the hole in the end the crank, you should be able to find the correct bearing size. Put the dimensions in here
https://www.gotbearings.com/ they it should be able to find something.
Unless someone has the correct numbder to hand. once you have the correct number could you let me know and i will update by build thread.
Again my apologies.

Assuming they are SKF bearings they should have the number on them on the outer casing around the edge.

is the bearing in the 1.7 engine the same as the one i require for the f7r? as it would be much easier for me to measure up from that one.
