shocks done

well we bit the bullet today and did the shocks!
20 years of roadlife and every single nut and bolt undid, allthough we had to heat the top of the front shock housings to release the top seal, but now i have classic swede blocks, springs, and shocks!
took the car for a spin and WOW it is so much better, flat cornering but not filling dropping hard, fast corners power in and theres no roll at all,to say the least we are very pleased.
booking it in for lazer alignment and grab as much camber out of it as possible,as james greenwood,of greenwood racing developments knows a trick or to about camber and these volvos

If they are the same as the early ones Dai showed me a while back (and I think it's pretty standard for front adjustable inserts) there is a twiddly thing in the main strut top nut.

Most kits come with a tool for twiddling the twiddly thing.

Chris is right.

In the bag with teh top nut is little tool (looks like a dome top nut) for truning the adjuster.

To start you need to wind the adjuster fully anti clockwise and then as a start turn it up between 7 and 10 clicks. You cant always feel the clicks so you can go off teh number of each of teh flat sided of teh adjuster you have turned.

i simply cant tell you what a difference this has made, its like the car was taking all the bumps and contours in the road, but now everything is soo much more damped leaving the car feeling very flat and stable it reminds me of the old mk1 mexico, cant wait to get the new wheels on and full lazer set up with camber.
all in all its awesome.

They are adjustable for bump and rebound with 40 point adjustment. You will find after a few weeks you might want to turn them up a few extra clicks after they have beded in.
