Post by magnumpi »

As per my poor English title above, where do i put the senders for an oil temp and pressure gauges?

Is there a plug somewhere on the block that i can take out and replace with the sender

Any help mucho gracias :)

Oil pressure:

one by the oil pump, will need an M14-1/8npt plug to make it fit.

can consider using the one next to the oil filter take of aswell ( runs the in dash oil pressure light.)

Oil temp theres a plug on oil filter side of th eblock where the clio item sits through and goes in to the sump, so could modified or use a sandwiche plate.

Cheers for the reply kind sir.

The sender says on it's 1/8" and afterthat it has 27NPT no idea if thats got anything to do with the thread size but hopefully it's M8 so should be good to go.

NPT is different to an M thread.

like imperial and metric and UNF and so on.

you'll need an adaptor

i was goign to get a 25 piece batch made up but only really needed 6. so pointless to have more that wouldnt sell really.

Good to know before i went and "made" it fit in the hole then. Being foreign made gauges the instructions are in English but are minimal to say the least, the wiring bit is fine, but the sender came with what i think may be an adapter?

It screws onto the end of the sender and i think the thread is different, although not 100% i'll check it with my thread checker if i can find it. Only thing is it doesn't seem like a very good fit onto the sender, other than that i can't see what its for.

Anyway a pic will probably explain it better than i am:

So the end i'm holding will screw onto the thread on the sender.

thats just a minimal change are you guages auto gauage by any chance?

i have the same set up for all of mine. merlin i think sell the m14- 1/8NPT at £5 odd.

that should be all you need it may be a bit tight though down on the oil pump side.

No they aren't Autometer they are the pikey and cheap rip off Autogauge

I've had the temperature one years and was going to put it in the Beetle but splashed out on the proper Auto meter ones. I manages to get a "kind of" matching pressure one so thought i'd stick them in the Volvo.
