They should be Pirelli P6 as standard, but when I had to buy a new set, I bought 5 Kenda Komets - simply because I needed a set of El Cheapo tyres in a hurry (not a patch on the Pirellis). They're 195/60/14's - I don't think the rimz are wide enough to properly take anything wider than that, although I think one guy on here got away with 205's - I think anything wider catches on the suspension...
Looking back I think I should have saved up for a while and put 195 Pirelli's back on....
Have still got the Goodyear NCT2 on mine 185/60/14, but haven't really been used in 10 years They were a fantastic tyre, tried NCT3s for a while.. totally different.
I believe you can now get GY F1 to fit the GLT rims, these were very grippy on my 940 but I did go oversize on the width and I did loose stability, best not to go over 185 unless you really want that wide look or fit different rims. You really need 7" rims for 205s.
Still, the better your grip and suspension the more the axle bends, suspension wears out etc.
Best tyres I have ever had have these Continental Viking Contact 5 winter tyres, works ok at summer, lot of grip at winter and these don't wear much at all. Something like 70 000km driven and still 6mm thread left (sorry for silly units).
Size is ok for 360 too, but these are currently in my french crap.
My 360 has Viking ProTech 500 GLT''s standard size (185/60-14) on GLT standard wheels, I have driven under 10 000km with them and there is around 4mm thread left, they are quite noisy and not very grippy, specially on snow those are terrible I did found out. Reason for high wear can also be that I have done quite a few track days with them, I would guestimate some 500km on track from those 10 000km, so I don't know if wear is that bad, tires have been cooked quite well, also sidewalls have wear as they seriously bend under the car on track, also thread itself has been overheaten, melted a bit and so, might be that I have been abusing them a bit. Speed class for those was higher than normally in that size, those were sold as sport tires. Well, probably one can't get those anymore, so information is bit irrelevant.
Now best depends from usage, here endurance racing series uses Hankook z212 tires, which are pretty ok for road use too as those don't wear too quickly and offer very good grip for price, in tests some slicks have been worse than z212 and unlike slicks z212 grips when wet, probably those are useless on snow, but for performance use on tarmac one of the best value for money. Then I have heard some Uniroyal would be nice for non tarmac roads. If you want to get best economy then I would go for Continental Viking Contact 5, but you can't, those are not sold in there, or maybe are available on special order for silly price, I did pay around 300 from four installed.
I use Toyo Proxies on 185/60/14s (360 wheels). I struggle to get the back out with a F7R without really cooking everything. Very grippy tyres on concrete, even in the wet but complete shite offroad.
Try not to save money on tyres, particularly the rear ones. I drove some cheapo rubbish tyres for a while and had a few (unprovoked) spins in the wet. Scary stuff ...
Get the cheapest "known" make, and I'm sure you'll be OK.

Well.. maybe a good reason to upgrade to BBS mesh wheels?
I think that when someone prefers performance, adding bit more contact patch area with bigger tyre size is not big issue, but indeed there is bit more investments needed when going to that route.

I have 195/50R15 Toyo Proxes T1R (on ATS CUP rims (click my sig pic)) and I love them to bits! Limitless grip on dry and wet roads. Still have not found the limit of them, but I think I will soon find out with my Koni shocks, stiff springs and DAI sway bar...
