All 300 ones are the same (maybe Renault and 400 too but check...) but have different part no as the electric string length varies

I was once told by a Volvo garage my Renix unit had failed, although what it was exactly I never did find out ... Some time around 2001 / 2002 the car would just cut out at randomly at speed - no one managed to find the problem until one day it stopped dead and had to be towed home. The garage at the time said it was the ignition coil and swapped the whole unit over - but maybe it was just the coil bolts as Chris says.

Good luck on getting it going again, and remember Renix numbers differ, theres a sticky somewhere here ...

Cheers

Tom

Odds are very slim unless it states glt only, check the part number with the table on here.

Yes, all 300s use the same sensor as they all use the renix system. Each model has a different map programmed into the renix though, which will make the car run with all sorts of random symptoms. It's what the garages mentioned a few posts above love to fit, wrong renix units ;)

I didnt realie till just now that the coil has oil as an insulators yes? well its very oily on the outside so this could be why it gets hot

I've changed the coil, it seems to run better but still cuts out. The water pump is fucked, could this be causeing it cut out aswell? although it nevers get hot. I am also struggleing to fnd CPS.

Google shows me a squillion

Including Rock Auto, which my housemate uses a lot for his Camaro and I believe Mac's used recently. Or... scrappy anything renault from the late 80's to late 90's ;) whilst holding the old one in your hand, they changed the plug over on later stuff to be female rather than male

This is meant to be the ignition module, doesnt look like the one in the car neither does it seem to have the sealant mentioned to cover the electronics? Is this a part of the ignition module? :/

It was on ebay as "ignition module" :/ lol Where can I get ignition modules please? Would it be worth changing the throttle postion sensor? although I was expecting this to be wrong as it said up until '84.

That looks like the ign amplifier you get on Motronic and LH ign systems.

Renix can fail, I believe Foggy had the Renix unit fail on his 360GLE at the Stondon meet years ago. He fixed it by putting a gallon of fuel in the car............ sm97 sm14  sm75
