Re: some information about an engine
This thread just made my day
Krazvy, the 360 torque tube, box diff and half shafts have had people put 250ish bhp through them safely, after then they seem to start popping bits.
Way before then you need to worry about rear axle location though, as I've just found with what I reckon is less than 150.

Re: some information about an engine
I get rear axle steer when launching, enough that without loosing any traction I have to correct for it steering wise. The car then proceeds to "crab" up the road until it unwinds.
I reckon having the tramp bar fitted both sides will sort this though.

Johns car seems to do that too......Chris_C wrote: The car then proceeds to "crab" up the road .

Always driving sideways.....
Re: some information about an engine
Yeah that's common especially if you have single tramp bar and don't have locker/LSD, same happens with 200-series panhard-style setup also.Chris_C wrote:I get rear axle steer when launching, enough that without loosing any traction I have to correct for it steering wise. I've not bothered to do anything yet as this "feature" doesn't bother me that much in street use.
Bit off-topic, watt-link also improves the durability of the stock CV-joints when driven hard by limiting the axle movement sidweways and therefore reducing the stress at the CV-joints. I asked about this from a guy who drives national Group-F gravel rallies here in Finland with the 300-series. He told that the half shafts/CV-joints started to last much longer when he installed the watt-link setup.

Re: some information about an engine
I don't get that on mine, it just axle tramps or looses traction but thats when giving it full beans not just your average quick pull away. My rear end is still sky high tho?Chris_C wrote:I get rear axle steer when launching, enough that without loosing any traction I have to correct for it steering wise.
