Saloon rear window removal

Post by Ride_on »

I've a few bits of rust to treat around the edge and need to remove the rear window on a saloon 360. Just seems to be rubber holding it in.

Anything I should know about that might be missing from the manual? Is it just feet and push?

Also I never understood what sealant the Haynes manual was talking about for the front, think I fitted it without sealant the time I tried it many cars ago.

Hi mate.
Someone told me recently that cheese wire is good for this job.

Won't it damage the rubber? Sounds like that's for the bonded rear windows on 86-on hatchbacks.

It's just held on by the window rubber, dead easy to remove although I can imagine re-fitting the rubber to be a bit of a pain!

It came out ok, just a firm pressure mostly along the top with feet spread diagonally. The window is actually prestty bendy and light so you don't want to put to much pressure on there. You can hear the rubber continually crackling as it unsticks. Keep the pressure on for a minute or more with just enough to keep the crackling going. It then pops out eventually.

Unfortunately I did break the heater connections off on one side trying to remove the spade clips, You should hold the bracket back by pushing a screw driver up against it to pull the connector off. The little copper bracket came off the metal, so it is all intact. It is soldered, or is it an electrical glue?

Does it need any rubber sealant on reassembly?
