Thats what I'm planning. I've got a thin coat of waxoil paint on the outside, just need to spray inside. Going to give the outside a couple more coats.340GLT wrote:Look out for the rubber/plastic grommets you can pull out on sills etc!!!

Beat me to it there Steve with the leading edge of the bonnet, if you can get to it, the tops of the rear doors, I can't remember if it was accessible with the door trims off. Also the front doors tend to go under the mirrors and in the bottom corners, about 15 mm in from the front edge where it meets the wing and 15 mm up. Under the bonnet I'd do the front cross bar corners where it meets the wings at the front just under the bonnet above the lights. This tends to fail, I'm not sure if you can remove the rubber buffer and spray inside that way? For any Mk3's with the golde sunroof and paper thin panel, that's a good place to start preventing the bubbling rust appearing too. Hope that helps, it'd be good if more people went for prevention, it's better than cure! Good luck.

It is best if all areas are dry first. Another point is fill the doors with wax oil, most ppl do not relise they actualy rust from the inside. The chassis rails are another important place to do. Also if you see patche underneath a coat of wax oil is better than doing nothing.

front wings, best thing to do is take them off the car.
if not possible, clean the drain holes at the bottom thoroughly with a piece of steel wire. sometimes there is a load of sand inside.. (especially the part between wheel and door)
also, don't forget the paravan (part below the windscreen) you can access it by drilling a few holes from inside the engine bay (plug up with the plugs you get with a bottle of ML)
Greetings Wouter
