Nice one mate , you could probably get enough work out of the V3m to keep you going , MDF parcel shelves and cavity covers all round me thinks. perhaps you could diversify and do thermal plastics then you could make me a bonnet vent as well LOL seriously though theres nothing better than working for yourself , best of luck (another sideline could be stereo installs)

Cheers, mate! I'm fed up of working for someone else, the grief and pay, although I know it's going to take a lot of time and hard work! Once I've got my templates sorted parcel shelves and cavity covers should be simple enough to make and very easy to customise too! So anyone who is interested......! The left hand cavity is perfect for any CD changers and similar devices! I've made mine with locks on, but should you just wish to have a handle Mick, that would be fine! Stereo installs are simple enough, I only dare to mess with my own stereo system, I think it's a bit risky doing other peoples! Good idea though! Bass boxes for subs can be achievable though.

i'm sorry to say this, but under the drivers seat is actually a faaar better place for a 'changer, cos it wont get so much vibrations (found this out the hard way).

solid parcelshelfs are the way to go, but you have to work out how to hinge them, which is nessesary to get toward the rear of the boot. i used the carpet/hinge/top section off an old shelf, which works really well but involved slaying an old shelf each time you wanna make one..

Cheers Steve, a parcel shelf can be arranged once I'm set up, which I'm gonna get the ball rolling tomorrow on that one! I've figure out how to overcome the problems discussed on the forum about lack of strength etc, will have those rectified and will make a prototype/example to start with. Cheers.

I looked at placing mine under the seat, which is all very well, but I didn't like the idea of people kicking it from the back. And I have a tall mate, 6 foot 7" who always adjust the seat right back, so neither seat would've been a good place for it. Plus I have speakers under there at the moment, which I like to much to remove, as they seem to add quite a nice subtle sound to the system!

The CD changer I had installed in the rear left cavity worked pretty well, as when mounted vertically, as opposed to horizontally, the disc is spinning on edge like a car wheel, so needs more to unbalance it causing skipping, than compared to horizontally on the floor or under a parcel shelf. Although on the floor the centre of gravity would be lower, but I didn't try that option! On the parcel shelf it picked up far too much in the way of vibration, yet central to the car is the best place to avoid major shocks from potholes. It's a shame the right hand cavity isn't the same size, due to the fuel filler, as this would make for the best place to mount a CD changer as it would avoid most potholes here in the UK.

I've figured out how to hinge the parcelshelf and keep the two tier design, so it would be close to original, but stronger! I'll get a prototype made as I say and I shall hopefully put my idea into practice! Shouldn't need any parts from an original shelf at all that way, or need to butcher one!

I like the sound of the parcel shelf still maintaining its 'hingeability' - as close as possible to standard shape would be great, but obviously with alot more strength. You're the expert!

dad and me made up a mdf/alloy pacel shelf that hinges good, its as strong as all sh!t, no joke it'd probably support 2 or 3 10" subs. It was originally gonna hold my 6x9's but then dad went cutting up my sidewalls when i was at work so he could put my new speakers in. now its just dead weight or maybe an emergency speed bump?
