Alternator Belts

Post by 990 »

After changing the 3 belts on my 360 the adjuster bolt on the alternator side snapped sm38

Now I have looked at the space with a new bolt and there is no room to get to it sm65

So I have two alternatives (I think)

Strip out the Bumper/Grille and Radiator  not my favourate option, or

Go at it from underneath and try to get the remainder out from there.

sm44 or suggestions or comments sm53 before I go insane

grill is quite easy to add/remove - but you'd have to take the radiator out too. can you not do it if you just take the alternator off?

To get alternator off the way it is set up is just as hard as the bolt in question is in front of the alternator bolts sm14

You should just be able to get the small bolt that holds the slidy adjuster part off, that'll be where the snapped bit will be. Then you can get some heat on the threads and get that rusted bolt out. I've done it on mine, shouldn't need to strip anything down. Maybe yours is different.

I'll post up a piccy later on today.

OK, so here's the picture, undo this bolt in the red circle and you can remove the whole thing and de-seize the bolt:
