electric problems

Post by Vart »

might there be a common cause for the fan and rear wiper to give up at the same time?

only thing thats happened to the electrics so far has been a new battery and some of the wires under the drivers seat to be cut (well a solitary brown one).

all the fuses are fine.

any ideas?

You should check the plugs underneath the fuse box. So under the dash in the cars interior. The might get loose, and make bad connection.

two common but completely unrelated causes I suspect.

The fan is almost certainly the heater resistor safety cut out corroded and failing, search posts for 'heater resistor' for the method on how to get it out and fix it.

The rear wiper is the wires that go through the join in the tailgate, because of the constant flexing these always eventually suffer metal fatigue and the fix is to very carefully peel back the insulation and fix whichever wire has broken.

alright, the wiper could be a wire that i presumed controlled the rear screen heater.

cheers for that
